The Gilded Page is pleased to support local authors by offering a local author consignment program. This allows us to feature titles from self-published and small press authors. We will consider professionally written, edited, and produced books from authors living full-time in the Tampa Bay Area. Books must meet our standards in terms of binding, appropriateness, and salability.
Consignment guidelines:
- We do not accept inquiries over the phone or in-person. We are a very busy small shop so our in-store time is 100% devoted to getting our customers what they need. Please do not show up unannounced with your books; you will be directed back to this page.
- Knowledge of our customer base and what appeals to them is a large component in our decision-making. For a better idea of what that might be, we highly recommend visiting us the next time you're in town!
- Books must have an ISBN barcode and a spine with the author’s name and book title. Books without these items will not be considered.
- Up to three (3) copies per title will be considered for the initial consignment period of 90 days.
- After the initial 90-day consignment period, we will contact the author to settle the account, request more stock, or return unsold stock. If the account is extended, it will be for another 90-day period.
- At the end of the consignment period, the author will be notified and will have 30 days to pick up any unsold books. All books left unclaimed after 30 days will be donated.
- The Gilded Page will pay an industry-standard rate of 60% of the retail price for consignment items sold. We retain 40% as our sales commission. Payments will be made quarterly by check. It is the author’s responsibility to pick up their checks at the store whenever they are notified of sales.
- Prices for consigned books will be determined by The Gilded Page based on the suggested retail price provided by the author. Books will be priced comparably to similar titles.
- As part of the consignment agreement, the author agrees to promote The Gilded Page (@thegildedpagebookstore on social media) as a retail location at which their book(s) can be purchased. The Gilded Page is not responsible for the creation of any marketing for the author.
- As part of the consignment contract with us, you agree to give us exclusive rights to sell your product within a 5-mile radius. Should you decide to sell your product with another store within 5 miles of our location, this consignment contract would become null and void. This exclusivity does not apply to one-time craft fairs or vendor markets, or personal sales through your website, etc.
- The Gilded Page will do everything within its control to maintain the integrity of the books consigned and secure them during the consignment period. We are not responsible for theft, loss, or damage to books consigned.
Please do not drop off copies of your book at our bookstore, unsolicited. You will be redirected to this page. Thank you!
